Prototype-based close-up visualisation of the KUBECA aircraft nose and cameras

Technology / In development

Hardware & software.
One connected system.

One C2 workspace to plan and supervise the mission. Fixed-wing aircraft, quadcopters and onboard navigation to carry it out.

01 / System

Two platforms.
One mission.

Fixed-wing aircraft cover distance. Quadcopters explore locally. KUBECA C2 connects both in one mission.

System concept · Illustrative confidence value

Extend the reach.

The fixed-wing platform is designed for long-range reconnaissance. A separate carrier drone is planned to transport quadcopters to the mission area.

Navigate visually.

Onboard cameras and motion sensors support navigation and local mapping when satellite positioning is unreliable.

Keep human control.

Review the mission plan, then supervise aircraft status, camera views and observations in KUBECA C2.

02 / Hardware

Fixed-wing aircraft.
Modular by design.

Full-airframe visualisation of the KUBECA twin-propeller fixed-wing prototype, showing both wings and the complete fuselage

Designed for long-range reconnaissance, with modular payloads and visual navigation.

03 / Software

KUBECA C2.
Mission control.

Plan and supervise the mission. Ask about observed objects and reveal their spatial relationships on the shared map.

Mission fleet
Current KUBECA mission interface with two fixed-wing aircraft and three clustered quadcopters. QD-01 is selected in violet, with a short camera-direction cone and an illustrative AI-generated interior camera image. All five aircraft remain on the map.
  1. Speak or type.

Assign a task to one aircraft or a quadcopter team. Speech becomes editable text.

  2. Review. Approve. Start.

Review each aircraft’s tasks. Approve the plan, then start the mission.

  3. Ask what was found.

Follow the fleet and review camera observations. Ask about an object or relationship; C2 highlights the relevant result on the map.

Software / Fixed-wing navigation

GNSS-denied
navigation.

Global visual anchors correct local drift automatically. Operator review is optional.

KUBECA / Fixed-wing demonstration

Visual navigation.

Automatic navigation. Optional review.

Flight-data evaluation

Recorded flight-data evaluation · 3.3 km route · RMS horizontal error: 0.35% of route length (11.7 m).

Map: LGL-BW (2026), dl-de/by-2-0.

Software / Multi-agent autonomy

Explore together.
Understand the scene.

Independent aircraft build a shared map. Spatial observations make what they find searchable in C2.

Demonstration details

Recorded in an office digital twin. The two films show separate runs: autonomous shared exploration, and real image-only object detection followed by a question over saved C2 observations. The spatial film shows a measured briefcase-on-table relationship, its two object nodes and the original camera image. Covers use recorded map and camera imagery.
